Notes: | Opuscular source: Letter from Roland Hardman to TA Russell, RBG Kew, 29 Jan 1965, Dear Mr Russell, Further to letter of 7 Jan I enclose herewith a few species of B wilsoniana for Dr Howes. 1. Nut; We received no complete fruits and only 5 nuts all wit, hout epicarp and fleshy mesocarp. One was devoid of seed, two had seeds which rattled, and two did not rattle. One of these non rattlers is enclosed and from its weight (26g) might well contain a fully developed seed. 2. Leaflets with free rachis. 3., Piece of stem bark. 4. Piece of root with our saw cut. The material was received last week by surface mail from Ibadan and supplied by Onochie, as Director of Forest Research PM Bag No 5054 via correspondence with Mr DP Stanfield, ref G 464/615. I bel, ieve it was collected from the Sapoba area of W Nigeria. It is described in Keay, RWJ, Onochie, CFA, and Stanfield DP, Nigerian Trees Vol 1 Lagos 1960. |
