Notes: Label source: The bark as met with in the shops is in irregular pieces or half quills about 1/4 inch thick; texture fibrous external surface decorticated, dull red, nearly smooth; internal suface dull red, finely striated. The transverse section shows nu, merous medullary rays of a darker colour than the rest of the bark. Under the microscope many dotted vessels and cells are sceen; most of the cells contain red colouring matter. There are no distinctive characters. Portions of the grey epidermis may often, be found adhereing to the bark. Rugtrora is in considerable repute among the natives as a tonic and an astringent. The tree grows upon the highest hills in the northern parts of this presidency. Dr Dymock Pharm Journal.
