Notes: | Label source: Every part of this plant has a nauseous smell, whence it has received the Dutch name of Truytje roer my niet. A decoction of the leaves is an excellent external remedy in Tinea capitis, Crusta serpiginosa, Necrosis and foul ulcers. It is al, so useful as a gargle and lotion in sore throat and in disease of the gums and the bruised leaves applied to ulcers, promote granulation. It is common in the Cape Flats and other parts of the Colony, and deserves a trail in cases of Plica Polonica. |
