Notes: | Label source: See letter 79.1907 Small grey bean - native name Kambeti Habitat - Moist ground on edges of Barotse valley, rich loam. Average size of bush 8 to 10 inches high, spreading in clumps from 18' above ground. Delicate bunches of white bean likef, lowers and grey green foliage. The natives use a paste of the leaves to strew in the pools of the Zambesi, where it apparently intoxicates the fish: I have seen great hauls of fish thus obtained. A decoction of the pods (green), bark and leaves is used by, the women as an abortive; also for dogs and goats with the itch and similar skin diseases. |
