It is manufactured by chipping off the bark of the growing tree, the material is then roughly chopped and powdered mixed with moist cow dung and moulded into round or square tins, these are placed in the ashes of the dy, ing fire at night and extracted early the next morning. the two small cavities are made when moulding and are intended to facilitate the using. The uses - to powder and paint bodies of members of the Munshi and adjacent tribes on certain fete days. The, cutting of the tree is now forbidden without a license under the Forestry Ordinance (1916). The sample shown is sold for 3d to 6d in the markets of the Ogojo Province Southern Nigeria.
