Notes: | Opuscular source: See letter 27, 1915 ix.p.182 Dated Jan 27th 1915, The Manager, Tin Areas of Nigeria Ltd. Acknowledge the receipt of his letter of the 19th inst and in reply to say that the samples of dye wood submitted for identification appear to be ', Red Camwood' used as a dye in Nigeria but unsaleable as such in this coutry. Camwood proper which does sometimes find a sale in this country as a dye wood is the produce of Baphia nitida. Full particulars of these two trees are given in the Kew Bull., add, itional series IX part 2, 1911, pp. 241 & 246. (Obtainable as per enclosed circular). The specimens are returned herewith as required. (Small tube of wood & powder retained). |
