Notes: | Opuscular source: Memo from LAB 1.12.14. re Sample (Letter 539.1914, ix p166) The peculiar external appearance of the sp is due to the nature of the cork. The latter exfoliates in thin layers, somewhat like birch. Owing to the presence of loosely att, ached cells forming strata alternating with tough layers of typical cork cells. There does not appear to be anything abnormal in the structure of the cortex or wood. Eumundi, CT White Aug 1914. |
