Notes: | Label source: Cork wood from which helmet was made. Specimen of 'Corkwood' Mr Patterson Gold Coast B.E.Exhib The specimen appears to be a species of Aeschynomene, or perhaps of an allied genus LAB 24.7.24 Later named from specimens in the Herbarium JHH S, ee letter 403,1924 xvi p.47 and 369,1925 xvi p.141 Comparison of lake Chad Amtatch with specimen of similar wood from Gold Coast. A piece of wood of the Lake Chad Amtatch tree (identified) by Mr Hutchinson with the aid of fruits accompanying it as (Hermin, iera elaphhroxylon) has been compared with a specimen of similar wood from the Gold Coast (H.1559-24 Mus 61/1924) The anatomical structure of these two specimens appears consistent with their belonging to the same species but it is regarded as undecisive, apart from collateral evidence.
