Notes: | Label source: Washed copy of report on two samples of resin from Trinidad received from Mr WH Freeman 23.8.11 - Mr RG Bushe at the suggestion of. Mr J Masters Hillier, RBG Kew, Dear Sir, We have examined the samples of gum which you left with us marked w, ashed and unwashed. We do not think that gum of this character has been imported into this before, so we have nothing to guide us in advising you as to the probable value. The sample marked washed contains some good gum suitable for varnish purposes, but, there are also a good many white coated pieces which ought to be taken out. We should certainly like your friends to send a trial shipment similar to this sample, but as free from the white coated pieces as possible. We should say that if they did, this, might get about 35 to 40 shillings per cwt. As regards the unwashed we do not think its advisable to send consignments in that form. We return your samples as you might like to keep them for further reference. Yours etc Dalton & Young See also Letter Book, 7 Letter 470 p.9. |
