Notes: Label source: Muvumu (Luganda) No. 278. Large tree up to 70 or 80 feet with round, spreading crown. Usually divides fairly low down into several large trunks, and in general habit and bark appearance resembles an English beech tree grown in the open thou, gh the bark is not quite so smooth. Fruits red, mostly borne towards top of the tree giving the crown a reddish tinge. Bark 1/2 inch thick, in section the colour of chicken, ham and tongue meat paste, with apparent resin globules scattered in it. Collecte, d in Lutoboka Forest, Bugala, Sese, which consists almost entirely of this species, at 3,850 Ft elevation by W.J. Eggeling, November 1931. Comm N.V. Brasnett, Uganda.
