Notes: | Opuscular source: Note re specimens for name from Edith Kloss, Prottoe? Cornwall, Feb 2nd, 1932. 1. Large seed from a creeper 150 ft in length, and each 40 ft or so dropped a huge rosette, each seed being covered with a kind of poisonous looking green,, the seeds 15 in no. lying close to each other - in a big rosette form. Her son cut this off and in less than 10 days the green covering powdered away - the weight when cut off was nine pounds. Stem enclosed - which supported the rosette with tiny ovall, eaves, grey green. This creeper was in a plantation - now a rubber one - Lindens scandi - Johore. Her ? had seen one in Bozen? Java, and his father had roasted and eaten it and gone to sleep for 3 days. 2. The small seeds are from a sacred temple 45 m, iles from Sourabaya - and the Javanese refused to allow my friend to touch the seeds, but he did, the bloom is flame colour sometimes, sometimes coral red. Sent to curator to grow - near Brownea (cf coccinea) Label source: The large seed may be Entada, spiralis of which we have in the museum a model of a pod. The smaller suggests Brownea - JHH 4.ii.32.
