Notes: | Label source: Samples of a large number of Indian drugs have recently been forwarded to London with the view of ascertaining if a demand would arise for them when better known in this country. On of these, sent under the name of Tari pods, is derivedf ro, m A.digyna. Messrs Gonne Croft & Co have kindly furnished me with an analyses of these pods, from which it appears that they contain 33 1/4 % of tannin available for tanning purposes, and suitable for making a leather of a light colour. The tanning gives, a blue black colour with ferric salts, so that the pods would probably serve also for the manufacture of ink. |
