Description - Dioecious de, ciduous tree to 13.5m. Bark smooth to flaking, yellowish to papery beneath flakes. Wood very light. Site in deep sand woodland, species present: Pterocarpus angolensis, Erythrophleum, Baikaea plurijuga tree, Bauhinia petersiana, Combretum shrubs and andr, opogonoid grasses and Digitaria. Abundance - can occur scattered within the woodland but also can form groves (eg at 25 Km from the main road) Notes - Elephants very fond of this fruit, seeds frequently found in elephant dung and many trees have been push, ed over. Material - Vouchers Kew & Botswana, specimens taken from regrowth as large trees had already lost their leaves.
