Notes: Opuscular source: Letter from WM Crosbie, Crosbie & Co, Island Mills, Crayford, dated 14.1.1913 to J Masters Hillier? The Museum, Kew. Dear sir, I have pleasure in being able to do as asked and have forwarded sample of crushed bark as prepared for extra, ction, also a sample of the fine powder made from the same. In this powder the cellulose is in smaller proportion, the saponin is probably higher than in the bark and this fine powder should not be used to estimate the constituents of the bark. Should y, ou wish to make any estimations by mixing the crushed powder in the proportion of 26/01 you should have the correct basis. I also send a sample of the bark before crushing. We shall occasionally see the netted bark both in larger proportion to the bulk a, nd sometimes only a piece here and there but have had none just lately. With best regards. WM Crosbie.
