Pukhun-bied Saxifraga ciliosa - Index to native and scientific names India Dr Forbes Watson p 427. Pashanbhed Pakhanblad (Indian Bazaars) Saxifraga ligulata, Wall. The rhizome is a well known Indian drug and is described by Sanskrit writers under the name of Pashana-bheda, or stone breaker. It is supposed to dissolve gravel or stones in the bladder and to act as a diuretic in doses of 15 grains... Pharm Indic, a (Dymock) Vol I p 585; Pakham-bed (Hind.) Fl BIndia II 398. Saxifraga ligulata Wall in Asiatic Research XIII 398, with figure Bog mag 3406. var ciliata Royle Bot Mag t. 4915. This is most likely Saxifraga ligulata, or the ciliata of Royle as suggested on, the original label, which Sir J Hooker is in Fl. B. India 11 398 places as a variety of ligulata Wall. The native names and uses of both are considered identical, and there seems to be no difference in the general appearance and microscopical characters, as compared with a specimen in the Museum.
