Notes: | Label source: Bought in Hammersmith market 6.4.32. They were being sold at 6 for 3d as 'lucky' seeds from the Belgian Congo. By placing a seed in water and changing the water every other day for a fortnight, a green shoot about four inches high and wide, (as shown) would appear, which would keep away flies. The shoot in question, appearing as from a seed, was a shoot of box (Buxus sempervirens) |
