Notes: | Label source: Syn Niwa Toka, Tonga, Kaempf. Amoen. fasc. v. p. 787; Thunb. Fl. Jap. p.126. This drug consists of the flowers freed from the stalks and dried just before expansion. They are of a dark colour and not to be compared in quality with those dri, ed in this country. The species of Sambucus is given on Mr Takemura's authority. Thunberg states (p.126) that neither this species nor S.canadensis, L., matures fruit in Japan and are therefore evidently not natives. Probably for this reason S.nigra is om, itted by Fr. and Savatier, in their Enum Pl. Jap., p.198. |
