Specimens of the erect aerating roots, which are used by the natives in the Southern Provinces of Ceylon for making cobra models. Opuscular source: No 42, , From the Director of RBG Deradenga Ceylon to the Curator of the Museum RBG Kew dated April 15 1898 on Sonneratia roots. Sir, I have honour to state I am sending to you in a parcel addressed to the Director, RBG Kew, specimens of the erect aerial roots, of S.acida, obtained from the Mangrove swamps at Kalutara Ceylon. It is from these roots that the natives in the Galle and Matara district make the models of cobra, of which you already possess specimens. I am Sir, Your Obedient Servant John C Willis. | ||||
