Notes: | Opuscular source: Peradeniya July 2 1897 Dear Sir, The segment of a cobra from Galle, sent with your letter of May 20, is pretty certainly made from the erect subaerial aerating root of the mangrove Sonneratia acida; this is soft light easily worked & is, used a good deal here for fancy work. I enclose a piece of the root mentioned. If you would like some for the museum I'll get them next time I visit a mangrove swamp. Yours Faithfully John C Willis.
