Notes: Label source: Letter M.180.31 Material very important, but apparently P.alata Ait. This species is comonly cultivated in Europe and elsewhere for its edible fruit. In Martin's Flora Brasiliensis it is stated, (Vol. XIII. part I. p.627) that an extract of, the leaves of P.alata, when mixed with the juice of Aloe, is believed to be very efficacious in cases of 'marasmus'.
