Notes: | Label source: Celery is a native of temperate Europe, including England. In the wild state the plant is tough and contains an acrid, poisonous juice. Under cultivation it is a biennial, forming a fleshy root and a clump of compound leaves with the long l, eaf stalks which constitute the celery of commerce. Their quality is much improved by blanching, usually by earthing up. |
