Notes: | Label source: Purchased as Biskra. These seed might go with the ammoniacum sample sent by Schweinfurth. They were picked out by him from the gum? Opuscular source: Dr Schweinfurth sent me the enclosed sample of Fassuck abiad (ie White ammoniac) which h, e got in a drug shop at Biskra. The dealer declined to give the origin of the drug. So Dr Schweinfurth sends some fruits which he picked out of the lot and asks to have them named if possible. I have no doubt that the fruits are those of Dorema ammonia, cum and that the article is therefore imported. I would, however, ask Mr Hillier to compare the resin with genuine samples of Dorema gum from Persia, and let me know what he thinks. |
