Notes: | Label source: Letter 269, 1918; xii p.115 June 25th 1918.The Manager, Yokohama Nursery Co. acknowledges the receipt of his letter of the 21st inst. and in reply to say that there appears to be comparatively little known of the uses of the roots of Bupleu, rum falcatum. The following extracts, however, may be of interest. - 'This, as also other menbers of the genus, is reputed to have stimulant properties. The root is said to be eaten' (Watt, 'Dictionary of Economic Products of India', 1.p. 547). 'The roots, are gathered in winter and used as medicine' ('Useful Plants of Japan' Published by the Agric Soc of Japan, 1895 p. 112). 'A drug of Szechwan, Hupeh, Chili, Anhui, Kwangsi' (Henry, 'Notes on Economic Botany of China', Shanghai 1893 p. 25) |
