Notes: Label source: Description and uses - The root bark of this tree mentioned in Sanskrit works as ankota has a reputation in leprosy and skin diseases. Mr Moideen Sheriff has recently drawn attention to its emetic action in his 'Supplement to the Pharmacopo, eia of India. He says it has proved itslf an efficient and safe emetic in doses of 50 grains; in smaller doses it is nausiant and febrifuge. The bark is very bitter, and its repute iin skin diseases is not without foundation. If it is continued for suffic, ient period its influence over them is greater than that of Calotropis gigantea. The tree is not uncommon in the Concons and Deccan; it may be seen at Elephanta near Bombay and also at Tanna. I have not seen it used medicinally.
