Notes: | Label source: Among the many substitutes for quinine this plant is one of the most valuable. In many cases where quinine and other anti-periodics have proved futile, this remedy has been found very efficacious. In combination with hydrastis, it has bee, n found an excellent tonic in depraved conditions of the digestive system, increasing the bilary secretions and acting as a stimulant to the excretory organs. In fevers in combination with gelsemium, and in derangement of the bilary organs in conjunction, with leptandrin and podophyllin, it seems to increase the action of those agents. |
