Notes: | Label source: Scammoniae cummi-resina. Pure Scammony is the inspissated milky exudation from incisions into the root of C. scammonia, and (when pure) is a true gum-resin; but it is generally mixed, more or less, with flour, sand or chalk. Adulterations o, f the true drug with these or other impurities, give rise to the numerous and incertain qualities of the Scammony of Commerce. This preparation is the pure Gum Resin, and may be relied upon as an accurate and uniform standard of the medicinal properties o, f perfectly genuine Scammony. |
