Acknowledge the receipt of their letter of the 12th instant, and in reply to say that 'Cravo' is a name applied in Brazil to Dicypellium caryophylllatum and a comparison wi, th the bark of this species in the Kew Museum shows the sample submitted for identification to be very similar to it. The bark of D. caryophullatum is known as 'clove bark' or Brazilian clove bark and some particulars of the tree are given in Kew Bulletin, No. 5 1912 pp 242-243 (obtainable as per enclosed circular).
