Notes: The fibre of the nettle plant is called Gwan, the raw fibre newly stripped is called Xwichia, and the oolichan net made of the fibre is called Takatl in the Kwakwala language. Made by the Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) people of Hope Island. Newcombe was paid $, 10.00 for this item in 1900.
