Notes: | Label source: Report on Pooah fibre - vol 6 1848, Agri Hort Soc, Calcutta old series. The pooah fibre of Nepal and Sikkim brought to notice of Dr Campbell, Supt of Darjeeling by Sargeant Crutchen a worker in leather who considered it equal to Russian, hemp for boot and saddle work. Uses. Fishing lines, game bags, twine, rope, sailcloth, sacs may be prepared on a large scale at 4/- etc. I can add that fibre withstands water well. (Label ripped down side- only partly legible.) |
