Notes: | Label source: Letter 49, 1918: xii.p.50. Piece of wood called Vogeltritt. The wood appears to be Walnut. The name Vogeltritt has not been traced. L.A.B. 2.3.18. Vogeltritt has not been traced as the name of a plant or wood; but is it not Hahnontritt = co, ck-tread, the germinal vesicle of an impregnated egg. 'Vogel' stands sometimes for Hahn or Huhn, the 'Vogel' (bird) ??. Has the wood marks which suggest the name cock-tread. Signed O.S. 11.111.1918. |
