Notes: | Label source: Galls on oak resembling English Artichoke Gall, caused by Cynips sp. Dr Hooker sent the leafy gall on an oak, which he had received from Mr Newton of Yale College. Mr A Muller thought it the work of a cynips, and analogous to our own arti, choke gall. He remarked that it was a curious thing that there were parallel forms of gall upon oaks in this country and in N America, though produced by different species of Cynips. |
