Notes: Label source: Pure gallic acid obtained by exposing an infusion of nut galls to the air for a long time, and then purifying the sediment. Used medicinally as an astringent, differing from tannic acid in not causing precipitates in either gelatinous or al, buminous solutions. A piece of skin does not absorb gallic acid as it does tannic acid, from the aqueous solution.
