Notes: | Opuscular source: Fruit of a Quercus or Castanea exposed for sale in the markets at Canton. It resembles a chestnut more than an acorn in appearance, and is scarcely distinguishable in flavor from C.vesca, but the Chinese declare it is seated in a short, capsule only. I have been unable to procure foliage or the involuce a capsule, nor do I know from what part of China the fruit is brought. It may be worth comparing with some of the Indian species.
