| Notes: | Label source: A large surface rooted tree generally furnished with large board-like buttresses growing to a height of 80 to 150 ft, 3 to 7 ft diameter above buttresses. One tree which measured 42 ft in circ. at 10 ft from ground over buttresses and 150 f, t in ht. yielded over 1000 cu ft of rough squared timber. Colour of wood light reddish brown scented soft and easily worked. Wt about 40 lbs per cu ft durable when not in contact with the ground, not eated by ants locally used for building purposes and ca, binet work. Wood due to its pleasing nature and immunity from insect attack, largely used for such as lining wardrobes. The timber obtained from the large buttresses is harder than that obtained from the bole of the trees. Buttress planks can be obtained, measuring 8 ft by 6 ft. Such timber is much prized for furniture beautifully marked and at times has a watered silk appearance. It shound be suitable for veneer or large one piece table tops. Abroad cedar is almost exclusively used for cigar boxes for, which purpose it is reputed to excel all other woods. | ||||
