Notes: Label source: Weak stemmed, arching branched tall shrub to 3 or 4 m tall, with stems to 10 cm diam at base. Leaves dark green above, greenish-white beneath. Flowers actinomorphic, petals yellow, spreading, sepals strongly reflexed. Stamens 6 short equ, al in length and spreading. Stigma green. Seeds surrounded by white and more or less translucent, very slightly sweetish, wet pulp. Fruit matures by the fruit coat coming more or less loose from the fleshy white aril, and breaking into 4 valves. Seeds, 2, the replum (placenta) a thin soft strand of fibre clearly separable. (Wood sample). This, and a few acacias, the only green plants in this thorn community. Grazed, now very dry (locally very wet and muddy in the wet season) savannah of small trees, to 4 m tall, with only Capparis cordata R. & P. green at present, just east of airport. Airport of Guayaquil, elevation ca. 10m.
