Notes: | Label source: Close to the main road running north from Juchitan towards Acayucan between Matias Romero and Palomares about 15km north of Matias Romero on low lying ground of the Tehuantepec isthmus. Small twisted shrubby tree to 3m ht. Bark smooth oli, ve greenish brown, mottled grey with lichen, spiny. Early deciduous stipular spines. Bark slash exuding a clear sap which turns orange red on exposure to the air. Foliage slightly discolourous mid green above, paler below. Flowers in striking large te, rminal racemes; calyx glossy maroon, standard petal pale lilac with a yellow white central blotch surrounded by a deep purple fringe, wing petals pale lilac, keel petals pale dirty cream, staminal sheath green, anthers yellow. Infrequent, scattered in se, condary vegetation on roadsides in a largely deforested area. |
