Notes: | Label source: Mexico: Oaxaca, highway 190 from Tehuantepec to Oaxaca. E side of Reservoir Benito Juarez by small village. Open deciduous thorn scrub. Some specimens of this species possibly cultivated. Mutiple-trunked, compact round-crowned treelet to 4m, . Main trunks 10-15 cm diam. Bark grey, shallowly vertically fissured. Slash creamish. Branching and foliage dense, terminal branchlets somewhat scandent, young branches very spiny, main trunks without spines. Leaflets coriaceous, discolourous, dark bottl, e green above, paler above. Calyx and corolla pale yellowish green, filaments white, anthers yellow. Immature fruit green, thick and fleshy, mature fruit orangish brown, dehiscing to expose shiny black seeds hanging on orange fibrous arils - the seeds hal, f hidden within aril. Duplicates MEXU |
