Notes: | Label source: A native of North West America This specimen is from a tree of rapid growth which grew in a moist valley near Falmouth, sheltered from the sea. The fissures in the wood appear to be due to local shrinkage during drying and to be connected w, ith abnormal softness and weakness of portions of the wood. These characters are probably an effect of the conditions under which the tree was grown. |
