Opuscular source: Letter from James Dickson & Sons, Newton Nurseries Chester dated Dec. 2 1878 to Curator RBG Kew Dear Sir, We, are sending you this day by passenger train (carriage paid) part of a larch tree, and shall be glad if you can give us any explanation as to the cause of the injury affecting it. The specimens has been sent by a correspondent who says that three quarter, s of the larch in a plantation of 3 acres is similarly affected. This injury appearing from 1 to 3 feet above the ground line. Any information you can give us in regards to the matter will be esteemed a favour. We are dear Sir yours very truly |
