Notes: | Label source: Known as the Christmas tree. A very magnificent tree, growing to 70 ft in height with short trunk and spreading branches. Wood strong, hard and durable. Much valued as a ship building timber. Pohutukawa flowers at Xmas and is used for d, ecorating. Flowers very showy. North Island. Abundant along the coast from the N Cape to Poverty Bay and Urenue. Inland at Lake Tarawera, Lake Taupo and Waikaremoana. |
