Notes: Label source: Specimen of leaf and fibre (leaf not there). F.O. 1892 No. 225 83/92. Aloe fibre Report from Ide and Christy, 72 Mark Lane E.C. 27/06/1892 Fibre from Somaliland. This is an excellant fibre of fair length and with plenty of life. In characte, r it strongly resembles the best sisal hemp with which we should have classed it but for your statement that it is derived from a Sansevieria. With the exception of its colour its preparation is perfect and even as it is we value it today 25 per ton. We a, re of opinion that if care were taken to improve the colour a considerably higher price would be readily obtainable - prehaps as much as 50 per ton if a pure white could be attained without loss of strength and lustre.
