Nkonge aloe sent by Capt Lugard from the country west of Mombassa., The fibre is strong, coarse and stiff and of poor colour but it would meet with a market in London today at about #17 per ton and a trial shipment would be worth while making if the fibre could be rendered softer and whiter in preparation it would comman, d a better price - perhaps as much as #24 per ton. If perfectly white, twisting or doubling the fibre should be avoided. This material would only be available for rope making. Sample recd. 30/8/93.
