Notes: | Opuscular source: Memo to Dr Hooker, Sample of so called 'Chinese Palm Kernel Meal' Identified as prepared from the crushed whole fruit (not just the kernels) of T.excelsa. This is now used as a subsititute for kernel grindings of Elaeis guineensis. An a, nalysis of a similar sample, recently received from Salamon & Sealor, was stated to contain 2.0% oil, 5% proteins and 20% crude fibre. It would therefore compare very unfavorably with genuine article as a feeding material. You said you would like this sam, ple for the Museums when we had finished with it. CR Metcalfe P.S. I have drafted a reply to the enquiry. | ||||
