Director Imperial Institute: The sample named raffia (F.1549) from the Seychelles is obtained from a Palm and apparently con, sists of the fibres from the internal tissues of the petiole. It agrees well in structure with similarly prepared fibre from the petiole of Raphia from Madagascar and is probably derived from R. pedunculata this species being stated to occur in the Seyche, lles though not indigenous.
