Notes: | Label source: Rest to Herb. 30.XII.26. Mr Holland, These fruits afree with a sample of Maximiliana regia in Museum I I. However, as there is only one sample in the Museum it might be well to get Mr Cotton to compare them with Herbarium specimens when the, last paragraph of the letter is receiving attention. W.D. 28.xii.26. Kokesit palm from British Guiana obtained from the forests bordering the Berbica River and about 50 to 60 miles from the coast. A quantity rec'd from the colony in 1915 grown in Bot Gar, dens as Max. regia taken to Kew by Mr Bray identified by Mr Holland as Maximiliana sp. n. regia - asking if definite on any further information rec'd. As regards the structure of the fruits it is assumed that the leafy organs enveloping the base represent, the remains of the perianth. I shall be glad to have your opinion on the point and also as to the nature or the shallow cup to which the fruit is attached. Signed Harold Brown Principal Plant and Animal Products Dept. | ||||
