Notes: | Label source: Showing fibre partly extracted. Letter 157,1922 xiv p 231 : From Foundry Co to W Watson, 197 Kew Road; Re Fibre Decorticating Machine. Dear Sir, In November last you were good enough to send us two leaves of Jubaea for experiments with a, machine for extracting the fibre from the leaves of the West African Oil Palm. The enclosd sample of partly defibred leaf of the Jubaea may be of interest. Our object in writing is to enquire if it is poss to get some leaves of pineapple as grown in Quee, nsland. The Ag. Dept of Queensland are interested in the matter and wonder if our machine will defibre pineapple leaves. We do not anticipate any difficulty. Is it poss for you to let us have a few dozen leaves either now or perhaps at a better season, for taking them from the plants. (Signed) Oswald Elsworth, per pro Tyneside Foundry & Engineering Co. | ||||
