Notes: Label source: Letter enclosed. Obtained from seeds from Smith? Mr Coutts* The specimens received from Mr Franklin appear to be characteristic of the variety of T. turgidum (Miracle or Mummy Wheat), of the present day to show. There is no satisfactory, or conclusive evidence to prove that wheat taken from ancient tombs will germinate. Similar specimens of wheat claimed to have been raised from grains found in the Mohenjo Daro Tomb in Sind, were recently sent to Kew by the Editor of Country Life, who pu, blished an article in the issue of July 28th, 1934, embodying comments made by the Director on the subject.
