Notes: | Label source: From a beech tree at Nork Park 1827 The pileus is naturally coated with a resinous substance. Boletus iginanius ?? (Sowerby) Opuscular source: Letter dated Friday Feb 29th 1827 - A specimen of a fungus, separated by Mr T Trevelyan from a b, eech tree was laid upon the table and the whole of its upper surface was covered by a layer of brown resinous matter, which extended a little way around the edge over the under surface. When separated by a knife and examined it was found to be combustabl, e with much flames and smoke and soluble in alcohol; insoluble in water; nearly tasteless and indeed to have all the general properties of resin.
