Dear Sir, We thank you for your favour of the 16th instant, and also for the six sample leaves received by us. We much appr, eciate your kindness in this matter, and we are enclosing herewith a sample of the A.rigida Var leaf extraction and also a sample of the Agave sisalana, which in this particular case was too small for the large machine which has been designed in this part, icular case for the sisal. We thought you would like to have these samples to show what this new machine can do. The fibre, as sent by you, is exactly as delivered from the machine, no brushing or combing whatsoever having been done. Signed FM Larmuth, (Larmuth & Bulmer Ltd) A letter dated 14 March to Curator asking for 1/2 dozen sisal leaves they stated 'We have been manufacturing a patent sisal decortication machine on behalf of the patentee Mr John Coor (?) who we understand knows you personally. We, have the machine now completed in our works ready for tests and Mr Cook has asked us to write to you to see if it is possible to forward to us say 1/2 a dozen sisal leaves so as to try out the machine to prove its suitability.
