Notes: | Opuscular source: Letter 234 1923: XV. p. 87. The Edinburgh Roperie & Sailcloth Company Ltd. Leith. May 30th, 1923 Mr Gunn, acknowledge the receipt of his letter of the 19th instant (Ref. Q/R) and in reply to say that the sample of twine submitted for ex, amination appears to consist of a mixture of Manila Hemp (Musa textilis) and either 'Sisal' (Agave sisalana) or the fibre of some other species of Agave. Manila Hemp probably forms between 50 and 75 per cent. of the fibre present. |
